The whole year of 2007 was full of wonderful
new contacts and happenings. There was lots
of TV coverage, writings in the newspaper and of
course our interviews with a blind radio station
out of Glasgow, Scotland !!! Then in October, the
15th to be exact, which is White Cane Day,
something really wonderful happened at my
daughters fully sighted school. The whole week
of Oct. 15th the broadcasting class did morning
announcements and education on the blind and
braille awareness.
Braille-A-Wear did special tees in behalf of White
Cane Day (they are a part of our inventory so you
know ), the student body wore white on that day

(1700 kids and the majority wore white, pretty awesome
huh??) and every day there was something to help Bronwen
be included and the kids more comfortable in the hallways
with her. They were shown the proper way of "sighted guide",
how to address and identify themselves when passing
Bronwen in the halls, and we started a "Braille Awareness
Club". AND, we had lots of interest from TV stations for the
broad casting class and wonderful publicity for the school
district.
Now lets hop on to December. Once again we presented our
"Artful Tree" at the Harrisburg Arts and Craft Show held every
year. This was our 2nd year for this tree. We ask for
ornaments made by the blind and the visually impaired to
decorate our "Artful Tree". They come from everywhere !! The
first year we had 70 ornaments and this past year we received
192. One of my favorite things to do is to unwrap and place
these wonderful works of art on our tree. We will be doing it
again this year, so look for an e-mail for those of you who are
already a family member of Braille-A-Wear. And if you are not,
please shoot us an e-mail to artfultree@comcast.net with your
contact info.
We also have been doing alot of personalized items for
schools, camps, AER Organizations, Deaf/Blind
Organizations, and have even done a Lions Club polo for
someone in Massachuettes.
Please keep us in mind for any of your schools, camps, and
organizations for your special tee or polo or hat or just ask !!!!
Bronwen is also continuing her art talents thru her "sighted"
school & fabulous art teachers. I also have gotten her back
with her art inspiration teacher from elementary school for
private lessons.  We have entered 2 of her art pieces for
consideration for exhibits. Both of which have been accepted.
One in Kentucky and one in California. !!!  She also won first
prize in a local art contest in which there were over 90
submissions. This is another avenue for Bronwen and being
successful in providing her own income someday. Look for art
pieces for sale soon on the web site.
2008 has proven to be another great year up to date. Lots of
new contacts and interest.
Our most recent awesome recognition was by a Pennsylvania
State Representative. On June 18th the state celebrated
"Blindness & Braille Awareness" day. We were invited to
partake in this event. While there we were visited by State
Representative Phillips. He commended us on our mission for
providing education and awareness of the blind and braille.
He thought our product was fun but yet informative. He did a
press release in his district and it was another wonderful
happening for Braille-A-Wear .
Finally, we are always looking for new ideas and ways to help
with our mission. We will always be growing with new
slogans/sayings on all our products but also looking for new
small businesses to help to expand our products. Thanks to
our local embroidery company for being so attentive &
interested in our product. And thanks to our wonderful local
potter that makes our braille/print pottery with alphabet or
personalization. And new to the Braille-A-Wear family is a
local sign, banner and anything vinyl type product that we are
working with for license plates. Look for those soon also.
Keep your eyes open to a line of jewelry we are working on as
well.
Hope you have enjoyed our "NEW" news.
